Program: “Art Quilter’s Journey with Background and Quilt Evolution” presented by Barbara Triscari, Fiber Artist incorporating Photography
Barbara incorporates photography in most of her art, either in print or in creating the designs of the pieces. She has been working mostly on small scale quilts over the last few years because she has been focusing on challenges from many different directions. She is also refocusing more on creating medium and larger sized pieces.
The enjoyment she receives from small quilts is because: it is easy to expand her arsenal of techniques and to work within the constraints of challenges stretches her to do things she would not have thought about in her normal course of work. She is also working with rust and new techniques with it to achieve what she wants. Working with leather is another avenue she is pursuing.
Barbara’s inspiration for her art comes from her travels. She moved 13 times and resided in 9 states including Alaska and Italy, and traveled to several foreign countries. Throughout her travels she took hundreds of thousands of photographs and experienced many different cultures. Barbara incorporates photography in most of her art: either in print or in creating the designs of the pieces.
