Beginning quilting class offered at Greentown Library, Greentown, IN, Saturdays, June 9 & 16, 2018

In this class you learn quilting basics while making a nine-patch table mat. The precut fabric and batting is provided.

Open to all ages for both men and women. The student must know how to sew and use their sewing  machine.

COST:  $5.00

NUMBER OF STUDENTS:  10 maximum

DATES:  Saturday, June 9, and Saturday, June 16, 2018

HOURS:  9:30 – 12:00 (2 1/2 hours)

Supplies to bring:  a sewing machine in working order, neutral thread, a few straight pins, at least 20 small quilting safety pins,  small scissors, pincushion, note paper and pen.

KPQG Saturday Workshop – May 26, 2018

Join us for quilting and fun and fellowship on Saturday, May 26th. It is coming right around the corner! Open to both members and nonmembers.

KPQG Saturday Workshops

FREE to members & non-members

The free KPQG Saturday workshops are usually held the Saturday following the fourth Tuesday of the monthly membership meeting. The workshops are located at the Kokomo Howard County Public Library (KHCPL) South Branch, 1755 East Center Road, Kokomo 46902. The hours are 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.

You may work on KPQG donation quilts, KPQG Block of the Month, or your own project. We are happy to answer questions and help you however you need it.

NOTE:  Change in location for the Saturday, April 28, workshop. It is at Indiana Wesleyan University, 1916 East Markland Avenue, Kokomo 46901. Please use the front door entrance.

NOTE:  For the April workshop, bring your own iron, ironing pad, cutting mat, and sewing machine.

Pattern purchase:  You may purchase and download the pattern at modernhandcraft.com/product/hexie-pillow-pdf-pattern/. If you prefer a printed copy, a limited number will be available for purchase at the workshop.

Supplies:  You need 42 (2 1/2″) squares and one yard of fabric for the background, lining, and back panel, sewing machine and basic sewing items.

Lunch:  Bring your lunch; there are no food establishments close-by.

Update: March 27, 2018 KPQG Meeting Location

The meeting is at Indiana University Kokomo, 2300 S. Washington Street, Kokomo, in the Kresge Auditorium and starts at 7:00 pm. Please park in the student parking area and use your IUK Parking Permit. If you do not have an IUK Parking Permit, please pick one up at the membership table when you enter the auditorium. Then, place the permit on your dashboard in plain sight. The permit is valid for Student Parking only and for the specific dates of the meetings.

Donna L. Kooistra, AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser, is presenting the program “From Newspapers to Instagram, #Quilters Connect”. This fun lecture shows you through Powerpoint and quilts how our quilt world has evolved. We’ll talk about the different methods of gathering together through the years from the 1930’s up until today!
